The problem

A camera app for photographers had to do two hard things at once: teach people while they shoot, and stay stable on devices that were already low on memory because the camera was open.

What we built

From early versions to 300K+ users

Feature work across the app as it grew, on Swift and SwiftUI, including the onboarding and registration surfaces that new users land on.

AI photo assistants and reviews

Integrated the AI features the app is known for: personalized feedback on a photo, and automated reviews that tell a photographer what to change next time.

Memory leaks cut 95%

Profiled with Instruments rather than guessed at, which matters most in an app where the camera is running while the user reads their feedback.

Releases off one laptop

App Store releases automated with Fastlane and GitHub Actions, and the app packaged for the web as a PWA.

How we worked

Our founder worked on CamGuru as a senior iOS developer from 2022 to 2024 and still ships its native pieces today: in-app purchases, Apple Pay and onboarding.

Results

300K+

users

Grown from the early versions of the app.

-95%

memory leaks

Found with profiling, not guesswork.

Built surfaces for the product that accounts for about 80% of its company's customers and sales since 2024

Product-level context, not our attribution.

What's next

The native surfaces are still maintained: purchases, Apple Pay and onboarding.
